Learning ServiceCenter is a complete course with step-by-step instructions. This book is written for the new ServiceCenter developer or someone who wants to learn a module they are not familiar with.
This book is based on ServiceCenter 5.0. It covers all of the important tailoring tools available to you when implementing Service, Incident, Change, and Inventory Management.
The CD included has unloads of all of the work in the book. You will never be left not seeing the code in action.
You first cover the system language with a unique interactive tutor. The book will tell you the exact syntax to enter and you can see for yourself how it works. It gives examples of code that works, as well as code that does not work. You will gain a greater appreciation of what can be done with rtecalls and other functions.
You will learn to:
- Work with arrays
-
Use standard functions such as tod(), nullsub(), and denull()
-
Create a new database from scratch
-
Create formats that look good
-
Set up Service Management profiles
-
Create new Incident Management categories
-
Use Change Management requests and tasks
-
Create new Inventory device types
-
Use profiles to control the user's experience
Frequently asked questions:
What version of ServiceCenter does this work with?
It was tested with 5.1. You can use it with earlier versions of ServiceCenter,
but some aspects will not work exactly the same. Some features such as
document engine do not appear until 4.1.
Will it help me if I am using an earlier version?
Absolutely. The basics of format control, links, scripts, and other tailoring
tools have not changed. This will also give you an introduction to 5.1. You
can download a copy of 5.1 from the Peregrine support site and use it for the
course.
How is this different from Peregrine training material?
This material was written to provide the most detailed steps to recreate the
lessons. If you cannot succeed you can always load the code from the included
CD.
This book can get you going with ServiceCenter fast!
